The White House Website Is Scrubbing Cheney Away
The White House website is getting scrubbed
by smintheus
Sun Feb 25, 2007

You won't any longer find links to these transcripts on the White House website—nor, indeed, links to most of Cheney's interviews from before 2006.

On March 16, 2003 Dick Cheney went on Meet the Press. His absurd claims in that interview have since become politically embarrassing to the White House.

I think things have gotten so bad inside Iraq, from the standpoint of the Iraqi people, my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators.

On May 30, 2005 Cheney told several whoppers to Larry King on CNN, in particular this one:

I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency.

Again, on Meet the Press on September 14, 2003

I think in the final analysis, we will find that the Iraqis did have a robust program.

The WH website evidently has been busy scrubbing links to interviews and perhaps other public appearances by top officials. The operation has proceeded somewhat unevenly, though aggressively. Pretty clearly the WH wants to make it much harder to research the administration's past pronouncements, especially unscripted ones, and especially those pertaining to Iraq.

1. Figures...
You wouldn't want the VP to look bad, right?
Of course not.

They're scrubbing because they don't want any EVIDENCE of what it is that he has done.

2. They are disappearing Cheney?
Could his "resignation for health reasons" be far behind?

16. His plane made a 'scheduled' stop in Singapore on the way back from 'love-in' with Howard!
It was reported that even though Air Force 2 experienced technical difficulties, the stop was a routine one. Other reports suggested that the aircraft may have had to return to an Australian airport.

Is the faction behind 911 losing some clout?

9. Nice Post!
Lady Macbeth appears, sleepwalking, and delivers the famous line: "Out, damn'd spot! out, I say!"

No way to hide what Cheney has done. But the question is will our media have the guts
to really cover Cheney and his crimes?

18. "All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand..."
...nor will all the oil in Arabia obscure the blood you've spilled there."

Second part of the quotation by me. I'm not even ONE of 100 monkeys (different branch of evolutionary tree...mine went ape), and the jury's still out if 'keyboard' really qualifies as 'typewriter', so I'm allowed to do it differently. :silly:

I wouldn't bet on a voluntary agnew type resignation, the dick knows where all the bodies are buried.

Hey, Mr. President, why don't you double your cleaning power? Mix the bleach and ammonia together and start scrubbing!

25. He he he! Mixing bleach and ammonia 'to double your cleaning power'...
Household use
Solutions of ammonia (5–10% by weight) are used as household cleaners, particularly for glass. These solutions are irritating to the eyes and mucous membranes (respiratory and digestive tracts), and to a lesser extent the skin. They should never be mixed with chlorine-containing products or strong oxidants, for example household bleach, as a variety of toxic and carcinogenic compounds are formed (e.g., chloramine, hydrazine, and chlorine gas).

Not significant by themselves, but definite signs of waning influences.

Or maybe he's being fitted for an orange jumpsuit.

15. Parallels between Bush Admin and Old Soviet Union are striking...
Both depended heavily on controlling the information available to the people, and in cases where they are caught red-handed they just deny everything.

Cheney is going underground. Where it will be hard to ask him any questions or serve him with any subpoenoes. Evil doings afoot ....

21. I noticed that this morning when looking for his schedule. Where is he?
First was Japan, then Cheney was in Australia, supposedly twisting Howard's arm to keep Oz troops in Iraq, and then supposedly left to fly home. Reuters next report was that his plane was diverted to Singapore in a non-emergency unplanned stop to replace a non-functioning generator; and confirmed by the WH as a planned refueling. Today the NYT says that he is traveling with CIA deputy director, Steve Kappes, and had already left a secret meeting in Pakistan with President Musharraf, telling him that Pakistan should do more. But no info on where is is headed now.

This entire trip has seemed a diversion or a desire to flee the Libby trial verdict, whenever it comes down. Maybe he is that big a coward.

Or maybe the CIA has him in custody and is flying him around to try to "Render" him to foreign countries to torture him and "get the goods" on the neocons. But it seems they can't get any takers. Or maybe they are trying it get top dollar for him.

A run-of-the-mill military coup, seems unlikely to me, as they could just have shot down his plane over the Pacific and left him for speculation with Emilia Erhart.

Or maybe he is flying around to privately tell Allies when he is going to nuke Iran. He would not want then to be caught off-guard and miffed.

Maybe all this is actually happening now that Junior has finally gotten his sea-legs and is doing his own thinkin, decidin, and orderin folks around. Tell Laura to get into her "teddy" and put on the black fishnets.

23. I wonder if this is making Scooter nervous about the pardon Cheney promised him.
Scoots must be getting fidgety unless he, (meaning Dicky's bunch), have the jury room bugged. 'Cause they did start out saying Rove had thrown Scoots under the bus. I would just think Libby would sure be thinking about singing to Fitz about now. Unless of course, like I said, he knows what the sense of the jury is.

26. Uh.....not quite.....
It is important that progressives don't look foolish by making unsubstantiated claims about Republicans, especially about the President and VP. Especially if allegations can be proven to be false. The Daily Kos and Huffington Post are not reliable resources for quoting and believing.

"I think things have gotten so bad inside Iraq, from the standpoint of the Iraqi people, my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."
