God gets a round of applause???
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 10:39 PM by Atman
"Look what God can do," first thing out of Jennifer Hudson's (Dream Girls) mouth...and a fair amount of the audience APPLAUDS. Wow. Damned Godless liberals. I'm more amazed at what God hasn't been doing while he was too busy voting for Oscars! Like stopping the BushCo killing machine.

3. Oh I don't think ridiculousness is reserved for award winners.
I'm of the persuasion that pretty much anyone can look ridiculous with a god speech.

God could not be reached for comment.

17. Completely agree!
She was INCREDIBLE! I've seen the movie twice and I would have watched it a third time if I'd have been able to find a sitter. If she wants to thank God and her Grandma, that's her privilege.

14. LOL. He must have liked the older actor more than the younger one.
Alan Arkin won for "Little Miss Sunshine."

Must just really have it out for that little girl. Wonder how she feels knowing God specifically thinks she did a shitty job.

7. That's how religion WORKS.....
... god gets the credit when things go well, while people get the blame when things don't.

10. No, no... if it turns out badly, it's still "God's will."
I don't really understand it, but if it gives her comfort, God bless...

16. Thank you .
It harmed nothing.

Just because she said that does not mean that everyone has to believe in a God like a dictatorship. Bitter much hell yeah - its just her moment. Let her have it. End of transmission.

12. I cringed when she said that, too. I wonder if people who credit God really mean it. Maybe
they're trying to appear humble, as if God is the one who gave him/her the talent or drive or whatever.

19. That really bothers me.
If people want to credit their God for their successes in life, so what?
Why should it bother anyone?

If one believes in God, they also believe that He/She allows things to happen,
good or bad. That would include Oscar awards.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people get all riled up about this.

22. It doesn't "bother" me as much as it "amazes" or "saddens" me.
That people really believe a mystical being is watching over their awards show, while Darfur, Iraq, Rowanda, etc, etc, etc...come on!

That otherwise intelligent people would believe an omniscient supreme being is making sure they win a gold statue while simultaneously turning a blind eye to the killing and maiming of tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children around the globe...sheesh...sorry...for the life of me, I don't understand why people are so accepting of this as anything but hokum.

20. I thought the applause was for what she was saying about her grandmother.
It started after she began talking about her. There was much made of her grandmother being her inspiration and I'm sure that no one in the audience had missed the story.

that She thought Jennifer Hudson's dress was a fashion blasphemy.

She said Hudson looked like a character out of a bad Star Trek rerun.
