I am so embarrassed. Ashamed. I should go straight to my room with no supper. But, I can't help it. During the entirety of Johnny Mack's press thing this cold, rainy A-M while I was still lying in bed sipping my morning coffee, the covers pulled up to my chin, MSNBC providing the pictures on the telescreen, I kept waiting for the hoped-for moment when Cindy's mouth would open just a slit and a long, serpentine tongue would fly across the room and zap whatever reporter was asking a question about Johnny's, um, dalliance with the lobbyist lady. Like a large, blond lizard doing a quick breakfast . . . whoosh! crunch, crunch . . .



Oy! The New York Times giveth; The New York Times taketh away. Blessed be the name of the New York Times! Wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago the Times endorsed poor, sad Senator McCain? And now, this?



After seven years (Seven. Long. Years.) in the wings - the result of the gutting he took from Karl Rove and the religious crazies in the 2000 South Carolina presidential primary – Johnny M was ready. And, 2008 was to be different. The pod of pretend candidates the GOP sent out to “debate” each other seemed to have been assembled for a SNL sketch. Johnny M knew all he had to do was stay cool, ignore the psychos and moon-bats in right wing talk radio, pretend he loved the Bushes, and, oh, yeah, one more thing: Keep Cindy quiet. Seriously. No talking. Just smile, stand there, and silently respond to the facial tics and strange, chicken-like, herky-jerky, arm movements of Johnny Mack. (I know, I know. He was tortured, but what does he do when he has an itch on the top of his head?)



Ah, but it is not to be. There will be no McCain Presidency. No hundred-year occupation of Iraq. No nuclear attack on anyone who pisses him off, even a little. Cindy will not be inviting dignitaries to the White House for . . . dinner. (Whoosh! Crunch . . . crunch . . .) The Senator will now have to wait another eight years. He’ll only be 79 then, an age of wisdom and insight. The cat, you see, is out of the box. The Senator from Arizona did something with the lobbyist lady and the gimlet-eyed anchor droids on cable television will feast on this story for weeks. And, there will probably be more from the Times. Today’s fearsome revelation of McCain’s relationship with the lobbyist lady is, as surely as we know and love mainstream media, not the last dish to be served. It was not dessert. Unh-uh. Today produced just the appetizer. Several courses will follow. So, enjoy. And, remember to tip your waiter.

I'm hanging in there, thanks. I went to see my sister and she didn't have a good day today. She had a lot of fluid in her lungs and her breathing was labored. They've restricted her fluid intake again and she may have to go back on the ventilator. Big :hug:s for you and my fuzzy pal Crook.

I'm just disgusted about that, as the last time that CrookedSon** was in town visiting his fellow crooks at Erlanger, there were news reports and LTTEs about how folks had been abused by law enforcement. One woman who wrote into the paper was in her 70's and she had problems 10 mins. from where I live, and that's a good 35 mins. from where the Crook In Chief** happened to be.

HE was here later in the day and the kids were home, so I couldn't go. We have about 65-70,000 people living here, and the newspaper estimated 6,000 showed up for him. "Normal" people here are sick of Bush. Even the hardcore pro-life crowd doesn't like him, but they won't vote for a Dem either since this one issue defines everything for them. The conservatives are denying their support of Bush.

Anyway, the crowds weren't necessarily about Hillary, but all about seeing a popular former pres. I'll be happy with either one, but I am tired of the Clinton-bashing in Texas and don't look forward to hearing it again.
