I found DU when a 'friend' provoked me with jokes about how

great * was. We'd had conversations, and he 'tested' me. I reciprocated by going to
many websites to counter his attacks against Dems, but I think I found DU via "All Hat, No Cattle"
website. So ironic to me that Clinton has brought that up.

I had by accident stumbled on to Free Republic first, when I was looking for downloadable books by Tom Paine and the Founding Fathers, and it took me to the Free Republic site (I don't know why, they've never read any of that stuff). I perused their site for a while, then went back to Google and typed in "Free Republic" and "assholes", and google pointed me to DU. I have blessed google's search engine ever since.

when I found the DU page, it had the words Free Repubic and assholes. I thought, any group of people who though freepers were assholes were ok in my book, so I started reading DU, and liked it enough to sign on eventually.

This might have been the link that took me to DU; can't remember exactly. I googled Free Republic and assholes just now, and it was fourth on the google list.
