So, Ann Coulter Is Speaking At My School (Part 2)
I posted a thread here about a month ago asking for ideas on how to protest Coulter's speaking engagement at my school. Well, we finally came up with a suitable plan and I wanted to share it with you guys.

Tickets can be purchased by non-students, but for students, the event is free (since they're using our student activity fee to pay for it, barf). So the plan is we're all going to "purchase" our free tickets the day they go on sale, all progressive, left-leaning students on campus, effectively "selling out" the event. As the major news reporter for our school's alternative paper (also the largest paper seeing as the "official" paper is a total conservative rag), I will be covering the event. We're gonna get a nice, large photo of Ann speaking to an empty auditorium and put it right on the front cover.

We went through several different ways of protesting, but this one seemed to us to be the funniest. We might also run a counter-event with some speakers and/or bands, but I'm itching to write article!

Sounds like a great idea! Just make sure no conservatives get wind of it, or they'll beat you to the tickets.

6. I might suggest that you all go.

If you don't they will probably open it up to the Freepers. I know it is going to be rough, but when you all go, just stare at the ceiling throughout her entire diatribe. listen to your ipod or personal music device so that you don't have to hear her.

On edit: It will really annoy her if you all ignore her!

9. Every one should go, and turn their backs
and stick their fingers in their
ears when she speaks. Let her talk
to an auditorium of peoples' backsides.

This is the ultimate pain for an attention hog like coultergeist.. I like the newspapers idea.. I also like a "talk among yourselves" tactic.

25. stink bomb, anyone?
There are a lot of otherwise harmless chemicals that reek to the heavens.
Just a dab and the whole place reeks of feces or rotten eggs.
If some of your people were to simultaneously expose some of the stuff,
it might make an eloquent statement.

27. Any physical protest is dangerous
I read somewhere that the guys who pied either Coulter or Buchannon had to move twice because the supporters showed up at their house waiting for them. Not worth the fear price.

8. I would make the payments with checks and credit cards
and then cancel payment. You would eventually have to pay but maybe you could group together and get some headlines - who is sponsoring it? the student body?

13. College Republicans are sponsoring, naturally
It just so happens that our student government VP is the president of the CR. As VP, he decides on all budgetary matters, which explains why when he took office, the CR got an extra $50,000 despite having 5 members while our student rights club got its budget cut by $25,000 despite having 50 members and offering 12 internships per year and doing food drives, environmental clean ups and voter registration drives.

Oh, and since we're students, we don't have to pay, so no need to go through all that.

14. Well the other thing that you might think of is rather than planning
a counter demonstration is to make it campy - have a costume demonstration in which everyone dresses up like a retro republican and hold signs supporting her with her most outlandish statements in faux support.

18. There's about 5 who would probably go
There's a total of 45 registered Republicans on campus out of 11,000 who live in the dorms. Our school just isn't political, one way or the other. Plus, this is New York, so even the Republicans aren't THAT batshit crazy.

24. Ann Coulter is just another Michael Savage- a radical right wing hate merchant
Ann Coulter is speaking at a school? Good grief!!!!

This woman is in the same bottom of the right wing barrel league as Michael Savage- all she does is spew hate-hatred of gays, hatred of Muslims, hatred of Latinos, hatred of anyone who doesn't worship Jesus, etc...
What possible positive message could she bring to your-or any school?

Dress up as "Billionaires for Bush" or "Concerned 'Women' of America." Ask her for ridiculous advice. I bet she won't get the joke.
