1. So what does this mean? How influential is this man? And what

Anybody know.

3. I heard from the grapevine that he had a heart attack.
That's why he was taken to Jordon to a real modern hospital.

5. I think he's effectively retired as the president.
I'm cynical and won't rule out the * Administration told him to take an early retirement, and they'd say he was sick vs. his desire to spend more time with his family.

6. Here is some information, he is in stable condition

AMMAN, Jordan -- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani was in stable condition Monday as he recuperated from exhaustion and pulmonary inflammation at an Amman hospital, Iraqi officials said.

"There's nothing dangerous about his case," Ambassador Saad al-Hayyani told The Associated Press after he visited Talabani at the King Hussein Medical City.

Talabani, 73, fell ill Sunday and was unconscious when he was rushed to a hospital in Sulaimaniyah, his hometown in northeastern Iraq. He was then flown to neighboring Jordan later in the day for extensive examination.

"He underwent medical tests and was found to have suffered exhaustion and a mild inflammation of the lungs," the ambassador said. "He lost fluids, but his heart is very well and there's no need for him to be flown anywhere, whether the United States or elsewhere, for further treatment
