Fox News Fails To One-Up ‘Daily Show’
Satire has kept Stewart and Colbert busy during this administration. The former kicks back as the straight-faced news anchor skewering the day’s headlines, while Colbert spins himself as a boisterous right-wing pundit, satirizing figures like Bill O’Reilly.

But enough is enough, according to creator Joel Surnow, who was apparently unsatisfied stacking up Emmys with “24.” So what exactly does his vision of comedy involve? Beating us senseless with it. We’re ushered in by Rush Limbaugh, sitting pretty in the Oval Office. “Would you like to join me in a cigar?” he asks V.P. Ann Coulter. “Isn’t the White House a smoke-free zone?” she reads off a teleprompter. “Not anymore.” Phone rings; it’s the Speaker of the House. “Pelosi?” Limbaugh replies. “How did she get this number?”

It does not get better.

Anchors Kurt Long and Jennifer Robertson, in one of the better moves of their careers, pitch us a magazine dedicated to Barack Obama. It’s titled “BO”—this is a punch line—and comes with a t-shirt: “Don’t Tell Mama I’m for Obama.”

If you didn’t find that hilarious, you clearly weren’t sitting in the audience. Take a good look at the opening pan shots, by the way, because that’s all we see of it: A laugh track punctuates every other phrase. Repeat enough times, and you, too, will feel like somebody is watching your show.

2. Ugh, nothing more annoying than a conservative thinking they can be funny.

5. The sad thing is that Conservatives CAN be funny.
I think P.J. O'Rourke is one of the funniest people alive, and Christopher Buckley is a genius at satire.

The problem is that comedy needs to have a kernel of truth for it to work, and the truth is that neoconservatism is so thoroughly discredited, and the Republican Party deep in the pit as far as approval numbers. They don't have anything to hang their humor on if all they plan to do is criticize the Democrats.

6. The show is downright 'dyscomic'
It is to 'funny' what vacuum is to air.

7. This show was doomed
This show was doomed the moment they decided to only include jokes about Democrats. If you decide to do political humor, what is the point of automatically cutting yourself off of roughly half of the jokes simply because a politician has an "R" after his name?

8. Saw it before, it sucks big time.
I found the whole thing on Obama as racist, even the shirt which some DUers wanted to buy. But maybe why I found the shirt offensive was because I am white and was married to a man who was quite darker than myself for many years and one of the questions I heard over and over, is "how does your father/family feel about you being with him?" or the statement "I'll bet you father/family is not thrilled about this." I would usually just smile and say, "Yes, his being Catholic is not going over too well." It was too much trouble to tell them what I really thought, and besides; ny father was a Baptist minister and that was his main objection.
