Disturbing New Photos From Abu Ghraib-NSFW

TED 2008: How Good People Turn Evil, From Stanford to Abu Ghraib

Monterey, California -- Psychologist Philip Zimbardo has seen good people turn evil, and he thinks he knows why.

Zimbardo will speak Thursday afternoon at the TED conference, where he plans to illustrate his points by showing a three-minute video, obtained by Wired.com, that features many previously unseen photographs from the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq (disturbing content).

More of the photos are worse than this and many have seen them before.

Thank you for being the one to break this news. Sure hope this will break the silence on Abu Ghraib. This needs to be opened and cleansed, doesn't it?

Needless to say most of the photos are even more disturbing,
which are not for the faint of heart.

It still made me ill.

2. There is another in which the prisoner was "knee capped"

Blood all over the place, one of his knee caps is already taped up (with duct tape) on the other knee cap, where the duct tape has been torn off; it is laying in the foreground of the photo, you can see two long slice - straight lines apparently inflicted by knife - on either side of the knee cap. It brings to mind a guard playing doctor and attempting his first surgery.
