1. I don't think he'd play with us if he is not considering it.
Fooling around about it at the Oscar's last night kinda gave me the impression he is seriously gonna take the leap.

6. I don't see how anyone
can conclude he's going to run because of the joke he told.

2. I don't know whether he will, but I sure hope so.
I think anyone claiming confidence in his intention to run is merely expression their strong hope he does. I have that strong hope as well as I think there is no other American who can repair our country at home and our image abroad like Al can. We need an idealistic president, not a calculating, divisive "politician" who only "believes" what is seen as politically expedient at the moment (Hillary).

It sounds absurd, but I think Al Gore may be the only person who can save our country from the damage W and gang have wrought.

4. voted not sure, but leaning yes...
I really think he will get in before Thanksgiving; I think if he was definite on NOT running in '08 he'd already have given a definitive "No, I will not run in 2008." I think it's probable that he's not made the decision yet himself; and I think he'll be persuaded by the world situation and by all the people who so strongly want him to run.

7. How About A "Who Cares"
As one who isn't going to write checks for any Presidential campaign or really give any credence to "candidates" for '08 until we're within' sight of the first primaries, I could care less who is running and who isn't. All the "numbers" are popularity polls with the effectiveness of an election for Class President.

Being so far away from the '08 election, the corporate media and the growing "underclass" of fulltime professional campaigners need to make their existance relevent. It's easier to speculate about Gore or Rudy or the Trix Rabbit...it's cheap and easy "news" as it usually involves getting a "roundtable" of the usual suspects (all paid-for party operatives) to astroturf for their candidate (and to see if they can parlay that into more power and money within).

Also, many of us are in states where the primary train will arrive long after the candidate is annointed. All the hype and "melodrama" is political theater of little to no consequence except for one candidate trying to destroy another for a bigger chunk of the gold pot of campaign cash.

If President Gore decides to run, he has plenty of time to do so. He doesn't need 200 million to buy TV ads for "name recognition" and his entry in November or December still gives him plenty of time to activate an already large network of contacts and people who owe him chits for his past political favors.

Right now President Gore deserves to relax and bask in accolades for his work over the past year and continue to be a spokesman for what's right and moral in this country. Once he becomes a candidate that pulpit vanishes as the corporate media is sure to make him into a cartoon character again.

8. I vote no
I think his statements have been pretty clear on the matter.

If he even thought he MIGHT run for President, he could simply say "I haven't decided, and I'll make that decision sometime later this year." That would at least put some brakes on the money currently going to other candidates, while people waited for him to decide.

9. No Way To Know For Certain, But Based On His Own Statements I'd Say Logically It's 99% No.
He hasn't said or done anything at all that would give credence to the concept that he would choose to run. On the flip side, he has in fact said quite a few things, and quite bluntly too, that would give every reason to believe he's not running.

So though a lot can happen from now till then and though I'd love to see him enter the race, I'd say the odds are quite heavily in the favor of him not running by a huge margin.
