Whether it's your first vote or your fifty-first vote, if you live in Cuyahoga County or another county using paper ballots for the first time March 4, you need to know some things now.
First, you must be a registered voter. If you haven't registered to vote yet, it's too late for the March 4 primary.

Before leaving the house, you need to have one of the following items of identification:

a valid photo I.D. or driver's license;

a military ID with a current address;

a utility bill or bank statement;

or a government check or paycheck.

At your polling place, a board of elections worker will ask you to check off a box, declaring whether you are a Democrat, Republican or an independent.

That will determine which kind of ballot you will use to vote.

If you choose not to declare that you are either a Democrat or a Republican, you are an independent and will get a ballot that only has the local issues on it.
