2. The helmet sure has taken a beating....
over the years. I believe most of the damage to the helmet occurred from the inside out though. It's not like the Democrats have been beating on it or anything.

5. This has gone on in all the cartoons.
It has been sort of fun to watch. First I just thought it was in my mind but it went on in all the cartoons I was looking at.

6. During Nixon's "stonewalling" in Watergate,

(where the political connotation of "stonewalling" has it's beginning), the stone wall drawn in front of the White House was a complete wall. In the period of time leading up to the time Nixon resigned, the wall crumbled.

13. Here's the strip showing the wall being finished
Trudeau won the 1975 Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. On Aug 9, 1974, 3 days before this strip was published, Nixon had resigned.


A few days later Trudeau ran a strip showing the wall being dismantled, the sun shining, and birds singing.
