Is there anyone out there willing to bankroll a serious Draft Gore Movement?
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 12:48 AM by Ignacio Upton
While I'm glad that there is a dedicated group of people who want to draft Gore, the problem is money and organization. I honestly don't think Gore will run unless a HUGE draft movement forces him to. Such a draft movement would have to be even bigger than the Draft Clark Movement was at its peak. It will have to run ads in crucial primary states, organize large scale petitions, operate offices, and stage large rallies for the sake of positive publicity. I'm talking about at least 10,000...hopefully 50,000 or even 100,000 people at such rallies. Once we raise the prospect that there is a serious draft movement, it will snowball into larger support, and ultimately get Gore into the race.

...But how do we do this? Well, we need people with organization and know-how to run such a movement. Are there any prominent former Gore 2000 officials interested in organized such a campaign? What about the guys behind the Draft Clark Movement? What about some Dean campaign alums?

1. There are thousands of us who will contribute to Gore
He already won the the presidency once. If he sets up a site he'll have millions within a month.

3. I'm talking about a draft, not an actual candidacy
I don't think he's willing to run unless he feels there is a real groundswell of support for him.

6. My own stupid opinion.
Gore runs, Gore wins. Hands down.

But, I could be wrong.

2. I just sent some $$ to my candidate but, wish you luck
I really like Gore. I was hoping to support him over the summer. I decided he was not going to run and felt he was happy with his life. So, I chose to support Barack Obama. I just sent a small donation to his campaign.
But, I do wish you luck in finding someone with money. It would be nice if he did get in but, I really don't think he will.
However, I support your effort and hope you succeed.

4. If Gore ultimately doesn't run, then Obama is my top choice
After that it's Clark, then Edwards.

5. My checkbook is waiting for Al Gore
Also my time and legwork.

I spent the last year on a congressional campaign. I'm now fully rested and ready to work for Al Gores campaign. Nobody else inspires my labor. Unless Feingold changes his mind.

7. FORCE him too?
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 06:54 AM by RestoreGore
What arrogance to try to FORCE him. I say, if people can't get off their butts and save their own country, they surely don't deserve him. Egos on parade is all a draft movement is. Money could be used for much more important purposes now...like going to feed hungry people, or even to help save this planet. It is sometimes sad to see how dependent people in this country have become on the very system that is keeping them down.
