"Ahm Dan Weston for the Scooter Store"
Does this guy not strike anyone as the ultimate Republican grifter?

His ads for scooters for the elderly and disabled are all over MSNBC ...... and no doubt other cable stations as well.

5. NPR did a long profile of him a few years ago--I think he borders on sainthood.

I used to feel the same way you do until I listened to the NPR story. The (Bush) government despises this guy, because he's helped so many people get motorized chairs (legally) through Medicare who were initially turned down. From the impression I got during the interview, he cares deeply about his customers and the freedom that mobility can give them. He's even paid for several chairs himself.

I'll edit my post if I can find the interview with him--it might change your mind.

edited to add: found it!

6. Thank you for that. I confess guilt to judging books by their covers.

7. Oh, I was guilty of the same thing.

Parts of that story literally had me in tears, btw. What kind of country is this that we have to make it so hard (and in some cases impossible) for people to get such basic things they need? In the larger scheme, the stupid scooters aren't even that expensive (the most immediate example being our dear ThomCat, who was in dire need of a motorized chair, and was turned down by his insurance company).

I went from seeing Weston as a scam artist to seeing him as a humanitarian/entrepreneur.
