Victims Say Driver Claimed 'Hitler Was Right'
Two college students involved in an alleged attack by an angry cab driver last month testified Monday that his rage came seemingly out of the blue.They said they weren't arguing or discussing religion, but that the cab driver went on a rant saying, "Hitler was right" and that "white people should be eradicated from the earth.”The students said they paid their fare, but that the cab driver accelerated and ran over Jeremy Inbus.

Inbus suffered a broken leg and an injured pelvis.

Inbus said he didn’t remember the crash but that he recalled what the cab driver, Ibrahim Ahmed, told him and passenger Andy Wilson while they were in the cab.

“’Hitler did what he did and he was right for doing what he did because,’ the term he used, ‘Jews were responsible for the evil and corruption and the sin in the world. At some point, I believe Jews maybe became white people, and, you know, that’s why Hitler was a good person because he was trying to cleanse the world of these people,’” Inbus testified in court.

And I have to say that if this had been a Jew or Christian making similarly racist remarks to two Muslims, and then running them over, there would be multiple long threads here, condemning this.

I don't recall there being that much about it here when it happened. It was a blurb on the news at the time.

There might have been more in the paper but I don't get it anymore because it's a Gannett piece of crap.

Some idiot cab driver in Nashville deserves what this story got, mention on a local television channel's web site.

Just how many threads should a local story get on DU? 1, 5, 10, 100?

There are bigots everywhere, no need to cover every stupid thing each of them do extensively, one thread is enough.

But that is just my opinion.

When someone spews hateful rhetoric that is not only disgusting, but totally without any logical meaning in what appears an isolated incident, I tend to be thankful law enforcement now has him, the victims have survived and are getting good care, and move on.

Certainly doesn't indicate any lack of concern on my part, however...:shrug:

When I read the first paragraph, I thought the two people in the cab beat up the driver for being a fascist.

"Hitler was right" and "white people should be eradicated"? Those two statements don't seem to go together - not in a sane mind...
