"WELFARE QUEEN!!!!" Why is it that when you hear this, the RW'er only cites a really horrible example, no statistics, just an appeal to emotions? That's because they don't have stats, they don't have numbers, they don't have anything to work with except your emotions. And sometimes it works, I've heard at least one DU'er speak of hordes of welfare queens who must be out there abusing the system.

"Rights for gay people should be curtailed, I was molested by a gay person." Really? So if a person is molested by a straight person, should that be grounds to curtail rights for straight people? Once again, no statistics, just anecdotal evidence with an appeal to evidence.

So, how do we fight this?

Call them out on it and demand for actual evidence, statistics, numbers, etc.
