Commissioner Wants To Fire City Manager Seeking Sex Change
The city manager of Largo says he will undergo a sex-change operation.

LARGO, Fla. -- A city commissioner is looking for support to fire Largo's city manager, who announced last week that he is planning to have a sex change.

Commissioner Mary Black sponsored a resolution Monday calling for the termination of Steve Stanton's contract.

Commissioners will consider the resolution during a special meeting Tuesday night.

If the resolution is approved, Stanton would be put on paid administrative leave during his removal from office.

The 14-year city manager told city leaders and the media last week that he is undergoing counseling and hormone replacement therapy in preparation for a sex-change operation.

Not being an elected official and still having a high profile position can get on some folks nerves.

Regretfully, they can come under fire for personal lifestyle choices like an elected official regardless of a spotless work record.

Me, I'm rather skeptical of the whole "sex-change" concept, but I also think it's just wrong to fire someone for choosing to go that route. This guy's genital status would not seem to have any bearing on his job performance.
