Pelosi accused of attacking evangelicals with HBO film (Alexandra)
A conservative columnist says an HBO documentary produced and directed by the daughter of U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is intentionally designed to denigrate evangelicals and make them appear "absurd." Alexandra Pelosi's film on evangelical Christians called Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi has been airing all month on HBO.

1. That's not exactly breaking news
They've been slamming that documentary for a couple weeks now - it's a gift to the theory that Christians are persecuted by Democrats.

5. Maybe that's why it's posted in "General Discussion" and not in LBN
It's news to me - and I thought it interesting.

8. Christians are persecuted by Democrats
in their minds. They are not allowed to force us all to believe and hate as they do, ergo they are persecuted. rush's brother david is an expert at this rubbish, trash, dumbassedness.

2. Pelosi doesn't have to make them look absurd
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 03:20 PM by Bluzmann57
They do a fine job of that all by themselves.

3. I've seen it. They make themselves absurd.

Alexandra didn't make them behave in the different manners shown on the film. They seemed pretty pleased with their own idiocy.

4. Good for her
Hail Alexandra Pelosi. Evangelicals who spend their lives trying to force people to believe in what they believe are absurd. They also want to replace the constitution with the bible, that pisses me off. This is nothing more then well orchestrated right wing hate and vitriol spewed towards anyone that tells the truth about those who thorougly enjoy their constitutional liberties but in no way have done anything to deserve them. If evangelicals want to give up their freedom and live in a theocracy they are free to leave our country - NOW!

6. So many whining Evangelical Christians
and so few lions.

Somebody was going to say it, so I'll be the first.

I wish these fools would read some history and realize what religious persecution looks like. Or maybe they could consider how they treat people they find out are atheist, agnostic, non Christian, or even Catholic. They have plenty of blind spots and bigotries to be criticized.

In the meantime, any organized group is open to criticism. This is still a relatively free country and freedom of expression is still partially guaranteed.

12. Yes
these whining motherfuckers have no concept of what persecution is. These religious freaks aren't free to force their religious beliefs down the throats of every American therefore in their warped heads they are persecuted. Whine Me a river bitches. I ain't buying it.

I DIDN'T SPEND 24 YEARS IN UNIFORM SUPPORTING AND DEFENDING THE BIBLE.

7. I've watched this twice now...
and many of those evangelicals she featured didn't need any help from her to appear "absurd" -- they did it all on their own. I'm thinking of the Aussie who "teaches" little children that the dinos were on the ark and are mentioned in the Bible, and the woman who said that evolution just "didn't make sense" compared to the creation myth in Genesis.

She hardly said anything at all. It was scary and powerful, especially the evolution part. Their own words.

11. That is funny
They are absurd without any help from Pelosi.
She did very little in the way of commentary in that film from what I understand.
