1. I own a single one ounce Krugerrand which was purchased back
....when Nixon took the country off the gold standard and allowed gold value to float. I should have picked up a couple more, but then I would have had to sell my children

2. smaller amounts of pre 1964 U.S. silver coins
are still affordable. Going up with gold. Click on the "silver" link on the page.

10. Silver rounds are a little better buy
The dealer mark-up on 90% silver coins is around 8%, while the mark-up on silver "rounds" (silver dollar-size one-ounce pure silver bullion pieces) is about 6%. But the 90% silver coins are more fun to look through, and can be purchased in units as low as .072 ounce (dimes).

8. There was a lot of resistance at the $980-$1000 level.
