MSNBC: Military personnel with brain injuries pressured to return quickly to duty
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17350373/

From the article... of course, the Pentagon had no answer:

"...many experts were concerned about low-level brain injuries among the troops. The rehabilitation experts at Veterans Affairs had been shocked to hear that soldiers and Marines who had been exposed to the concussive force of numerous blasts from roadside bombs, but not obviously injured, were routinely returned to duty.

The VA experts worried that this could lead to an epidemic of mental health issues among veterans in the years to come. I asked at the Pentagon if anyone was concerned about the issue and got no answer."

6. If you keep sending troops back
to the contaminated ground that exists in both Iraq and Afghanistan, then you don't have to pay disability. At least, not for long. The depleted uranium will take care of that little problem.

depleted uranium is also beginning to blanket the rest of the world. Cancer rates are already going up where I live because of it.

9. Where's General Patton when you need him!
someone needs to go around to these VA hospitals and slap some GI's who are obviously shirking their duties and taking up valuable hospital beds from those who are really inured! Damn malingering hypochondriacs.

10. A second head injury, even a small one, can be fatal, or cause significant brain injury.

11. First head injury is much easier to recover from than second, esp if soon after.
First head trauma is usually easier to recover from. When you get a second, especially within a yr, it gets more difficult and more chances of lasting damage.

12. Yes. When the GIs get home there is going to be so much physical and emotional trauma.
A large number of seriously wounded and impaired folks.
And who will treat them??

Many of them will not be employable so will have no health insurance. And the VA cannot treat them all. Managed Care has destroyed the private practice mental health system.

right up to the Dunce-in-Chief.

18. If its good enough for the "decider in chief" its good enough for grunt recruits.
These soldiers are disposable. Support the troops my ass. I'm glad I hardly ever see those lying magnetic ribbons anymore. They always made me scream.

Support them by sending them into a civil war.
