When the media publishes a poll like X percent of Americans think something. Why do they never

point out what percent of Americans are so ignorant they can not complete a sentence yet are included in the poll?

5. They could just have a disclosure at the end. Something like

"20% of this poll's responses came from America's ignorant."

2. A green party rep

up here (not the US version) suggested to me that they voters should have to re-register every few years and that part of the registration process be a short, multiple choice test to demonstrate that you have some vague idea about what you were going to vote on - nothing subjective just facts about issues, candidates etc.,

I'm all for democracy but I think it's a damn fine idea. Only people who are willing to put forth a little effort and understand what they are voting on should be allowed.

But only if it was universally applied to everyone. No exceptions. PhD's and high school dropouts must be required to take the test.

Anyone who still thinks that Saddam Hussein ordered the 9/11 attacks should be screened out of the pool of eligible voters.

6. I agree

It would have to be universal - and I don't think it would even be as subjective as Hussein and 9/11, but you might (for example) be required to know where Iraq IS. (which I think would remove most of the people you are talking about anyway.)
