Anderson Cooper Has Skin Cancer Surgery
CNN Newsman Back At Work After Minor Procedure

POSTED: 3:47 pm EDT March 19, 2008

CNN host Anderson Cooper returned to work Wednesday after minor surgery Monday to remove a cancerous mole.

Cooper said on his CNN blog Wednesday that he had a "small spot of skin cancer" removed from under his left eye. Spokeswoman Shimrit Sheetrit said that there was no indication that the skin cancer had spread.

The 40-year-old Cooper made light of the surgery on his blog, referencing a black eye fellow news commentator Charlie Rose has been sporting the last couple of days.

"I hadn’t planned on mentioning this, but I still have stitches and you’ll no doubt notice them tonight," Cooper wrote. "Don’t want you to think I got into a fist fight with Charlie Rose."

2. I have several minor skin cancers
I have worked outdoors for 37 years, after a childhood spent outdoors. I found that Compound -W removed one of my melanomas. Vitamin E worked on another, and a Swiss Army knife and internal condemnation worked on another. No bullshit, although the Compound-W left a scar.
