He is Risen!!!!

The mounting evidence of the horrors perpetrated by - and in the name of - the U.S. in George Bush's phony "war on terrorism" is staggering. The official line used immediately prior to our invasion and occupation is the promise of freedom and democracy and human dignity. The truth is unmitigated corruption, lies, murder, and whatever new form of torture can be devised by the minds of men who are bestial in their approach to other humans - vicious neo-Nazis who now exert powerful influence if not outright control of decisions made at the highest political level of our sad country.

As reported at Amy Goodman's Democracy Now! web site, "(There are) new allegations of abuses at US prisons abroad. An upcoming expose in The New Yorker magazine says prisoners at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison were submerged in garbage cans filled with icy water and held naked under cold showers in near-freezing temperatures until going into shock. Sgt. Javal Davis told The New Yorker some prisoners were starved prior to being interrogated. Sgt. Davis also says he suspected prisoners were being cremated at the prison after witnessing an incinerator containing human bones. Another soldier, Sabrina Harman, said the US had imprisoned women and children at Abu Ghraib, including one child as young as ten years old. Harman gained notoriety for appearing in a photograph posing over the body of a prisoner she now says she believed was tortured to death." (emphasis added)

And, this weekend, how many of the people from whose minds these hideous distortions of normal humanity flow will celebrate the ascendant power and glory of their loving savior Jesus Christ??

Goodman's web site continues. "Meanwhile, at Guantanamo Bay, the twenty-one-year-old prisoner Omar Khadr says US officials have threatened him with rape as an interrogation technique. In a newly uncovered statement, Khadr says he has received several rape threats since his imprisonment six years ago. Khadr was fifteen years old at the time of his capture."

All this (in addition to unknowable moments of evil and horror we have allowed) flows like rancid, dark, coagulating blood, stinking and fouling everything it touches, corrupting what is left of American justice, American morality, American dignity, and American respect for life.

And in the middle of this stink, this pool of corruption squats Dick Cheney, smirking, deigning to be interviewed by ABC's Martha Raddatz:

Vice President Dick Cheney: “On the security front, I think there’s a general consensus that we’ve made major progress, that the surge has worked. That’s been a major success.”

Martha Raddatz: “Two-thirds of Americans say it’s not worth fighting.”

Cheney: “So?”

Raddatz: “So? You don’t care what the American people think?”

Cheney: “No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.”

Man the kwazy wabbits escaped from their pen this morning (4:30 am - woke me up) and I had to break up another fightbetween DeeJay and Dash. Dash (I think) bit my finger! OUCH!
DeeJay's nose looks hurt a bit too - it's real touchy right now.

I've got the pen pretty secure now. I can't risk them tangling with DeeJay while I'm gone.

I love 'em to death but I gotta find them a new home soon. :(

Still no fever and they've isolated the cause of the infection, but she was kind of agitated and frustrated today. I didn't go visit her because I think I feel a cold coming on but my niece borrowed my car and filled me in when she brought it back.
