1. start by defining diaspora. is it when people emigrate on their own terms?
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 01:19 PM by NoodleBoy
is it when communities leave because of failed crops, or when they are de facto or de jure forced out by another social group?

3. it's usually in the context of forced displacement, though.
and, as usual, boojatta doesn't do anything to make his stupid polls any clearer.

10. When the public schools and news media use the word "diaspora"...
do they always include a definition?

4. My Irish mother & gradmother diasporated to Britain, then Canada, then California.
To steal floor scrubbing jobs from "good" Brits, Canadians, and "murkins.

And, my father fled Arkansas during the depression to steal a longshoreman job from a "good" Californian.

5. So there is an interestin word-diasporated
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 02:35 PM by HereSince1628
diasporated now would that imply a diasporator and a diasporatee?

My McChesney ancestors now they were Scots Irish and probably not diasporated.

My Martin ancestors on the otherhand, poor Catholics don't cha ya know? They left during the potato famine. I'm wondering, just fer the sake of curiosity, if that would have made them diasPOTATERED?

8. Well, my German Jewish Great, great grandfather diasporated? to the US, and fought in the Civil War.
My Polish Jewish Great Grandparents and Grandparents, diasporated(?) to New York around the early 1900s. They were driven from their homes because of pogroms. Remember Fiddler On The Roof??? Being poor, they must have originally taken jobs that no American wanted, right?

So should I be replying to the Jewish or European poll? Or both? Actually, why have I responded to this nonsense in the first place?????

:banghead:
