3rd party voting...

On that point we agree. I don't think there is another viable 3rd party
candidate for this next election. But as much as I would hate to see
another GOP candidate elected to the WH I still firmly believe that everyone
has a right to vote their conscience. The sad thing is, if more people
would vote their conscience instead of being scared into thinking we have to
vote for the lesser of 2 evils, we probably could change the course of this
country and put it back on track. But the overall attitude is to use fear
and keep us all walking in lockstep in a 2 party system that is not working.
It is not working because both of these parties are bought and paid for by
the corporations, candidates for each are owned, lock, stock and (oil)
barrel, by corporate interests. One party might throw a few bones to the
people once in a while, but neither party is ever going to give the people
what it wants, not as l ong as corporate greed is at the heart of it. The
one other way we might get our country back is if we put into place some
strict campaign finance reform.
And don't get me started on how it is the media that selects our officials
for us. One little drop word, one little sound bite, even when it's not
true, can send a candidate spiraling downward and they lose votes. I have a
cousin (democrat) who wouldn't vote for Obama in Nov because she heard
somewhere that he was raised Muslim (which he was not) and would be big
trouble in the white house. She would rather vote for McCain (shudder) than
Obama she said. She has a tendency to believe everything she reads or hears,
but so do many people in this country. Sometimes all the media has to say is
that polls show so and so is falling behind, and the sheeple in this
country, more often than not, get behind the supposed winning candidate.
Did you notice that Kucinich got very little air time. Too liberal, the
corporate wouldn't want him to have a chance, he might actually do something
about the fleecing of America. Edwards got a little more air time but not
much. He vowed to change corporate America and help bring the country back
to the idea of of the people, by the people and for the people. We wouldn't
want that.
2 party politics is not doing this country a whole lot of good. I am a
democrat, I believe in the principles of the party and I would like to vote
for Obama in Nov. If Edwards ran on another party ticket, or Kucinich, I
would probably vote for one of them because they speak more to my liberal
heart.

OK, we disagree.
I think we're at risk of losing our country if another
GOP president/congress is in control. We need to work
with 3rd parties at a lower level.
