Subject: Laws Aren't For Mavericks?

John McCain is breaking campaign finance law.

When his campaign was in trouble, he opted for public financing through the primary, limiting him to a $54 million spending cap. But now that he is the presumptive nominee, he's spending like crazy.

According to McCain's latest spending report, he has spent in excess of $58 million so far.

Earlier this week we filed a formal complaint to Federal Election Commission. Now we're getting ready for a larger second delivery early next week. For this delivery, we've set the aggressive goal of 30,000 signatures.

Please read and co-sign the letter to the FEC right now.

Our efforts are already starting to get some traction. We've gathered over 22,000 signatures, and CNN picked up the story on Wednesday detailing how McCain is going outside the law.

Check out the CNN coverage of our efforts and add your name to theirs right now.

If you sign right now, we'll make sure that your name is included with our larger delivery next week.

Sincerely,
Jane and Markos

2. McCain says he decided to opt out of campaign financing
But the head of the FEC says that he can't opt out until they release him, and they have some questions tht he has to answer first. Turns out that when his campaign wasn't doing well, he most likely used the guarantee of public financing to secure a loan. If he did use that promise to secure the loan, he can't opt out. So far, McCain hasn't answered that question.

4. Yea, but since there are only two active members of the six who
make the full commision and no one is going to work to seat a new commission before the fall elections, nothing with come of it...

5. Perhaps that is a strategy by the Rs, blocking the process by insisting on their boy Hans!
