NPR reports al-Maliki forced t o evacuate his battle HQ in Basra
Has anyone seen anything more about this? Naturally, US troops had to save his ass.

It appears things aren't going too well for Iraq's "War Prime Minister" and his "evenhanded" crackodown on crime. Notice, before al-Maliki's war was simply a police action to put "rogue" Shiite elements in Basra out of business, but now, less than 72 years later, the Madhi army is "worse than al-Qaeda."

5. I haven't racked down the link yet but this AP
story posted about 40 minutes ago says:

"The sound of intermittent mortar and machine gun fire rang out across the city , as the military headquarters at a downtown hotel came under repeated fire."

The NPR hourly news report is atill reporting US forces were forced to evacuate al-Maliki to another location in Basra.
