Gore says no to being Dem 'broker' . "I am no 'Boss Tweed'
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

His name continues to get mentioned as a Democratic elder who could hammer out a resolution in his party's deadlocked presidential race, but former Vice President Al Gore said Sunday he's not interested in the job.

"I'm trying to stay out of it," the former vice president said on CBS' "60 Minutes" of the prolonged race for the White House.

The comments follow increased speculation that Gore, the party's 2000 presidential nominee, may be called to forge a compromise between the two candidates, or even appear on the top of the presidential ticket himself.

1. So many did not believe him when he said he was not a candidate last year,
why should they believe him now? I read here so many scenarios last year that had Gore getting into the race and immediately becoming the frontrunner. The same mindset continues and the only thing that might stop it is the results from the general election in November.

2. How many different ways does he have to say he is not running
before people believe him.

3. That is something I would not mind at all
In fact, having Gore at the top of the Democratic ticket would be one of the best things I could ever hope for.

Happy Birthday Al, wherever you are!

4. he's too smart to want the job
when looking at the mess that things have become...I mean, who in their right mind would want to step in and fix it knowing full well that it is YOU that would end up taking the brunt of the pain and the blame? He has a much better pulpit right now...

5. I continue to be confused by the language he uses
to say that he's not a factor. He used the phrase "I'm TRYING to stay out of it." He has NEVER ONCE flatly and uncategorically said that he WILL NOT run.

6. Would it hurt him to take a side?
Since he's swearing off running for office this time how about it?
