A little reminder of why I'll do everything possible to get a Dem in the WH this year
While helping my 11 year old son research our family history on the internet, I found a photo of my father in the Army. It was a photo I'd never seen.

My father was born and raised in central KY. He signed up for the army when he was 16. My grandmother signed for him, because she knew there was nothing there for him as an adult. My dad did 2 tours, he was stationed in Japan and in Korea during the Korean War. He saw a lot of the world, then came home to marry my mother.

This photo brought it all home for me, he looks so young. I have 2 young sons and I can't even imagine the thought process to send them off to war when they're 16. THIS is why we have to get the Republicans out of power. NO more 100 year war crap. We need to fix our economy so our young people can have a future.

My dad is on the right.

1. Wow, he's just a baby!
My kids are older than that and I agree completely. I don't want ANYONE's kids in danger of dying for the
craven wants of a bunch of RW assholes.

5. my dad says he remembers
marching in the heat in full dress in front of Eisenhower.
He said although they all followed orders they were swearing under their breath at him..
that kind of cracks me up.

maybe our dads crossed paths at one time. My dad is a retired steel worker, living in Ohio...
Lifelong Dem, and one of the most liberal christians I know.

6. Hard to say if they crossed paths but one never knows
My dad has been a life long Democrat as well. Both my parents used to be very involved in politics. Dad worked the Iowa Caucus in January. Mom can't do much of that any more due to health, but she worked campaigns and polls for years.

The reason I recognize the background is because I was scanning some old pictures the other day.
He isn't wearing the full dress uniform. A tie, field jacket and a cap. There was another picture of him in his uniform standing in what looks like a Japanese building. Writing on back said it was taken in Japan.
If they weren't in the same unit then the same photo company was taking the pictures.
