Who is your favorite talk radio host?

Now that Randi is gone, and most of the other great progressive radio hosts are no longer on the air, who will you be listening to?

Especially that Christian Talk guy. nt

Shortly after the demise of this memorable pair, we were contemplating the purchase of a bar. The building was perfect. The price was do-able with a second mortgage on our home. We were gonna call it "Fernwood Forever!"

We finally decided that betting the homestead on a crowd with a severe interest in some defunct teevee shows was too much a gamble.

He's voice always seems to put me to sleep. Although, it also gives me terrible nightmares and constipation.

There's always Rachael Maddow, or TYT online...hell even alan colmes is better than any of the choices you offered...but for sheer "what a crazy asswipe rethug" value it's Michael Savage hands down...

that was going to be revealed tomorrow (Friday) night, on tonight's (Thursday's) "Countdown." Something that involved her. I'd really like to see her gain in stature on TV. She's intelligent, articulate, funny, quick-witted, she makes superb points and more than holds her own when sharing the screen with several other talking heads, and I think she has a lovely face and very understated elegance. Perhaps she's being groomed for something bigger? It'd be terrific if that were so. It's about time!

The guy constantly contradicts himself! And last night he talked about doing a movie about himself, for (almost) the whole show. There is no greater egomaniac on the air than the SavageWeiner. He's sueing CAIR for some nonsense, and asking his suck-up listeners to donate $$$$$ to his legal defense. What a loon!

He's been on the air here in Orlando for quite some time. Aside from Henry Rollins, when he goes on a rant about Bush or Iraq, it's hard to beat him.

If you're in Orlando, he's on WTKS 104.1. If you have XM, he's on channel 152 (tape delay).

No reason to pay for it if Randi is no longer on.

You really don't hear music like you do on Sunday Morning Coming Down played on the radio. Great old times blues stuff there.

They're kind of comic rednecks, although their attitudes are often quite liberal. They also play their own music - with a bunch of released CD's of comic/semicomic music.

Phillips is a great afternoon host, too.

...but I've been listening to Rush since the early 1990's.

I've written articles which lambaste him, so I don't agree with anything he says.

However, he is very talented. He's very good at what he does. I often wish Progressives
had someone on our side, who is as talented as Rush.

Yeah, I feel dirty even saying that, but it's how I feel.

It sucks that such a skilled communicator and entertainer has to schlep for the neocons.

Here where I live, it's Rush or Bill or the bible. Rush is an easy choice :)

I don't listen as much as I used once did.

I think it's good for us Progressives to tune in every once in a while, so we can
understand their delusions and be ready to counter them.

I listened to Michael Savage tonight in the car. Man, that guy is so fear based. It's insane!
His entire audience must drink their way through his entire show. His entire show is one big
aneurysm about liberals taking over and destroying this country.

You know who really suck? Dennis Miller. UGH!! Now there's a guy with zero talent. It's
bad enough, that his politics are so messed up...but he's just so bad. I heard him for 5 minutes
one time, and I'm still reeling.

That's so good, for him. Even better for his friends-in-high-places.

Rush's voice makes me break out in hives. Hannity is too damn stupid to listen to. Beck just seems mean without the humor. And poor Savage. As a southern belle, I just can't get past that damn NY accent to much care what he's spewing. Boortz is an idiot, but he's funny. Funniest when he's not even trying to be funny. Fortunate since I am subjected to every show every work day.

My all time fav radio host though is Dr. Demento.

but I also enjoy "Talk of the Nation" with Neal Conan, and "Science Friday" with Ira Flatow...and KGO's Ray Talliaferro in the early AM, and Len Tillem's "Why do YOU need a Lawyer" on KGO's daily 12:00-12:45 afternoon slot.

Rachel Maddow has always been my favorite.Others really good personalities are Mike Malloy, Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartman.....I know I live in a big market (L.A.) so I guess I didn't realize so many other places weren't getting progressive programming. I know Mike Malloy is on Nova (which comes on what is normally the Air America station here-1150 a.m.)and he was absolutely crucifying Air America today and what happened to Randi. I was only able to listen to him for a short time because at night the station often goes to a sports game. I still feel there are some good hosts out there and for all of their faults, I don't know how I would have taken these last few years without Air America.

Progressive radio is definitely the minority in the radio world. just look at the top of the http://www.talkers.com/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=44 "> talkers heavy 100. It's full of Right wingers. Our progressive talkers are moving up the list every year.
It just bullshit to call for ANY progressive talker to be fired.
