Democratic leaders in Congress are demanding that the Bush administration complete a long-delayed Iraq intel report, according to a press release issued late Wednesday.

"House and Senate Leaders and Intelligence Committee Chairmen sent a letter to the Director of National Intelligence urging prompt completion of a national intelligence estimate (NIE) on Iraq first requested by Congress six months ago," the release states.

.................

House and Senate leaders expressed in the letter that "the American people have a right to expect that their elected representatives will be fully informed at the outset of the debate in order to increase accountability for results and to increase the chances for a bipartisan consensus on a way forward."

The letter's signatories include Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), House Intel Committee chair Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) and Senate Intel Committee chair Jay Rockefeller (D-WV).

Text of the letter sent to outgoing National Intelligence Director John Negroponte, soon to be replaced by Mike McConnell, follows...
