Bush is responsible for more death in the past 25 years than any other single human
Not since the likes of Pol Pot and Idi Amin has there been a more murderous regime. Over 4000 US military deaths, and over 600,000 Iraqi deaths - many of which are civilians. Not to mention the legacy of torture, rendition, secret prisons, domestic spying, etc - things usually associated with tyrannical dictators like those mentioned at the beginning of this post.

It is my sincerest hope that once this regime is out of power, there is a real and genuine push to hold these COWARDS responsible for their actions. THEY are the enemy - not Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

1. You mean just during the last 25 years, right? Because otherwise ... Stalin.

or did you manage to forget that already?

17. Its not what the thread says at all. I have no idea how many Bush has killed in a 25 year span
"Bush is responsible for more death in the past 25 years than any other single human"

No, it is not what the thread says. It says that Bush's total during the last 25 years was higher than any other human. You qualified Bush's point in time but you didn't qualify it for 'any other single human'. So what you said is simply not at all true. Stalin was responsible for far more deaths during any 25 years you care to single out between 1930 and 1950. Hitler was responsible for more deaths than the entire Bush clan in just the years between 1933 and 1945.

2. Puh-lease
Look, criticize the guy to your heart's content, but be realistic. If war deaths are going to be ascribed to the president, then how many deaths did FDR cause? Truman? Kennedy? Johnson?

5. The OP is absolutely correct, these deaths would not have occurred without...
an illegal war that "Shit for Brains" was insistent upon.

7. To answer both #1 and #2, re-read the post - "in the past 25 years"
That's why I qualified my statement. If we open it up to all of the 20th century, then yes Bush's crimes pale in comparison to the likes of Stalin and Hitler.

As for FDR, I don't recall him "causing" WWII.

resulted.

20. Because
I was making the point that if you want to blame all war-related deaths on the president in power, then one could turn around and try to blame Dem presidents for the war deaths that occurred under their watch. And I don't think anyone would agree to that if the tables were reversed. I don't think it's a fair measure to say that a president is responsible for all deaths that occur in a war.

This whole thread is really about whether there was justification for the war. And the answer to that is no. And did FRD "cause" WWII? No, but he certainly decided to join in even though there was no direct threat to the US and we had not been attacked.

We weren't attacked at Pearl Harbor and the remaining Axis powers didn't declare war on us soon afterwards :eyes:

Also your explanation about the point you're trying to make only brings up the issue of why you want every one to see how 'easy' is to "turn around and try to blame Dem presidents for the war deaths that occured under your watch'. I'm not sure I want to know the answer to that one.

4. Actually, I think the Iraqi deaths are much higher.
What I read was over 1 million Iraqi deaths that are a direct result of this war. Plus 30,000 plus wounded Americans - not telling how many thousands of Iraqi wounded.

I know - so much blood on his head and I don't think he gives a rat's ass. That is what makes me think the guy is a sociopath - he just doesn't seem to care at all.

8. "Things would be easier if I were dictator"
He made that point numerous times shortly after the 2000 sElection. And he has obviously ruled like one. He and Cheney and their enabling lackeys ought to spend some quality time at the Hague, explaining why they shouldn't be treated as the war criminals that they are.

There needs to be an international tribunal set up to deal with something of this magnitude.

19. Only if you don't count African deaths.
To pick one name out of many, Juvénal Habyarimana. But there are loads of others where that comes from.

I note that your figure for Iraqi deaths appears to be arrived at by comparing death rates before and afterwards, not just direct military casualties. If you apply that method to African leaders who have impoverished and destroyed large areas, Bush won't make the top 10, I suspect.

22. Excellent point
It's a very sad thing that African tragedies get so little play here in the US. There are civil wars, corrupt leaders, mass starvation, genocide, etc. going on, and yet no one really seems to even be aware of it. Why doesn't this get publicized more?

23. True - but is there one single person responsible for those?
Maybe I'm just not informed enough, but I always thought the situation in Africa was more anarchy than anything else, with lots of people fighting and vying for power. I fully realize the horrors of Rwanda and the Congo, but I wasn't aware that there was a single person responsible for much of it.

28. Not at all
The point of my OP wasn't to belittle the tragedies and genocides that have occurred in Africa or anywhere else in the world. The point was to point out just how much of a vile war criminal our current president is, to try and put his crimes in perspective over the past 25 years.

30. There are individuals responsible for vast numbers of deaths.
No single individual is responsible for even a tiny fraction of Africa's woes, but they're large enough that they still encompass plenty of individuals with more blood on their hands than Bush.
