Michael Eric Dyson, University Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University, is the author of sixteen books, including Hollar If You Hear Me, Open Mike, Why I Love Black Women, Is Bill Cosby Right?, and Debating Race. Dee Dee Myers, former White House press secretary during the Clinton administration and the first woman to hold the position, recounts her political career and the challenges she faced as a woman in the West Wing. In Why Women Should Rule the World, Ms. Myers argues that the increased number of women in leadership positions creates a stronger society. From the halls of government to corporate boardrooms, Ms. Myers profiles women who have garnered success in their respective fields. Dee Dee Myers discusses her book with Dana Perino, the current White House press secretary.

Arlen Specter, Never Give In: Battling Cancer in the Senate
Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) chronicles his experience of being diagnosed and treated for the most advanced stage of Hodgkin's Disease while maintaining his duties in the Senate. Senator Specter spoke about his book at the Free Library of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.

Michio Kaku, Physics of the Impossible: A Scientific Exploration Into the World of Phasers, Force Fields, Teleportation, and Time Travel
Michio Kaku talks about the advancements in science that could make several science-fiction technologies a possibility in the real world. Professor Kaku spoke at the Smithsonian's S. Dillon Ripley Center in Washington, DC.

Nick Hanauer and Eric Liu, The True Patriot
Eric Liu, former speechwriter for President Clinton, and Nick Hanauer contend that the definition of patriotism has been misappropriated by the right and must be redefined and accepted by the left. They present several examples of what true patriotism means to them, which includes the ideas of "community above self" and "opportunity, with personal initiative." The event was hosted by the New America Foundation in Washington, DC.

Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart
Nigerian-born author Chinua Achebe talks about his novel at the offices of The Washington Post. The fifty-year-old novel, which looks at the impact of British colonialism on a village in Nigeria, has been translated into over 40 languages and over ten million copies have been sold worldwide.
