4. Don't know right off-hand. But I do know about half of it is in something called a
'service delivery' charge and a customer service charge. My bill runs about $90 to $100 during the winter and 2 to 3 times that much when the air conditioning is on. I live in Arkansas, but the electric company is in Louisiana and there's no such thing as customer service here. You have to call them long distance if the service is out!

First 300 is .09, then it drops to .06. I have a co-op that buys from Bonneville Power. My bill runs about $150 and I don't use much heat or cooling. Before the Enron mess in CA, I was paying half that.

At home it's the Green Power option (LA DWP also), but not sure the cost.

LA DWP is working hard on development of more wind power production. We don't lack for it, particularly in the desert east of here.

10. Between $.08 and $.11/KWH. from Duke Energy. Our studio apt. above garage on separate meter
is charged at $.11/KWH and our main house is being charged at $.08/KWH (Jan 07 bill)
I have no idea why the difference and I'm not about to challenge the higher fee because they might raise the lower one!

That's the "Baseline" rate. 131-200% over baseline and the price jumps to $.22944. Pretty easy to due with two computers running all day and an electric dryer running occasionally.

But my bill only runs $25-35$ a month after I switched out to almost all CF bulbs. I try to conserve on it as much as I can, since they are about 85% coal generation.

24. My provider,
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 07:03 PM by necso
SCE, uses a complicated formula. But a typical month has me paying $.1223 per kilowatt-hour (I used about 8kwh/day on the bill I grabbed; fairly typical, although I can do better). But this is for electricity below the baseline, and the price goes up above the baseline.

(I'd pay a few cents more (per kwh) for (to support) green power, but if there's some such offer extant, I've missed it. I was going to switch to a completely green provider after things were deregulated, but there was that massive power swindle and the alternate provider disappeared.)

49. You're Correct
The difference on ours is that we went to buying at auction. The biggest problem with electrical dereg is that it inserted a layer of purchase and profit taking that adds no value to the consumer.

This is a fundamental flaw in the understanding that these deregulation hounds have. The libertarian economic model that encourages minimal to no regulation also requires that all steps in the market process be value-added. The auction and market aspects of selling electricity this way adds ZERO value.

So, it doesn't follow the very economic model they worship. If you need that layer of distribution, and provide a non-value added step that takes profit, then the deregulation has accomplished nothing, except to increase price to the consumer.
