King documentary on tonight.
Tom Brokow hosts a 2-hour special on Martin Luther King, Jr., tonight on the History Channel, from 8 to 10 pm est. It should be interesting.

2. I hope the history channel does a better job than it has been doing lately
with all the biblical bs they have on.

3. CNN has had some great reportage over the weekend. I'm watching John Adams tonight.
Maybe they'll rerun the thing; I suspect it'll be a rework of other stuff.

5. It is "the essence" of the book. Truly, It's WONDERFUL.
I think Giamatti NAILS the guy.

I actually know a few descendents of JA. Giamatti transmits a particular quality that makes the character quite authentic to my view, he even has "the look" down. Dunno if it's the result of great applied acting, or serendipity, but I think the guy "brings it" to the role, despite the carping of a few reviewers (who don't know anyone from the family, I'll bet). Linney nails Abigail, too. And the sumbitch playing Franklin just makes me laugh--in a good way.

I think the sets, locations and costuming are all stunning, as well. The wigs crack me up! I suppose they did keep your ass (or your head, and by extension, your body) warm in the days before central heating (hmmmm...maybe we'll all be wearing hats in the house in future!).

I've been pissed at HBO for shitcanning all the programming that "I" liked (would that I were chairman of the board) such as Deadwood and John From Cincinnatti, and John Adams is the only thing that has prevented me, thus far, from shitcanning my HBO subscription and switching to Showtime to milk their offerings dry for awhile! Even Bill Maher is getting stale. Or maybe I'm getting jaded...!

9. Franklin...
is played by Tom Wilkinson. He's a great actor. Got nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Michael Clayton. He's been in a ton of good stuff, my favorite being Batman Begins (he plays Carmine Falcone, the mob boss).

7. niyad, have you watched any of the "extras" on the series they have
on OnDemand? They are also pretty interesting, but then, I'm a geek about things like that.

8. yes, I have--it is fascinating to watch all of that-- I love seeing how all
these things are put together.

(note: when they talked about how they replicated the people for the crowd scenes, I couldn't help but think about how the bushies do it to make it appear that der chimpenfuhrer has throngs of admirers)

I will record it for the film clips of King. It will be an addition to the Martin/Malcolm library.

16. My boss was interviewed for this.
Dr. Vincent Harding. I'm stuck in a hotel room without access to the History Channel and NBC called us too late for me to set my TIVO before leaving on a vacation. :( I sure would have liked to see it.

Thanks for giving everyone else the heads up, H2O Man.

to be repeated, I think. Hopefully, you will be able to see it soon.

22. Not that I know of.
I only see it listed on the History Channel. (The commercials make it look like it could be good -- which is, I suppose, the goal of every commercial.)
