Jesus saved my school bus.
I was driving in Newport News, VA, on I-64 near exit 255 around 2:30PM today when I began to get near a school bus.

On the bumper it said: "Jesus Saves".

This appeared to be your standard run of the mill yellow and black school busses. I had to exit the freeway there so I didn't really catch much of a glimpse of the rest of the bus (aside from the rear), but it seemed like a standard run of the mill bus. Is that legal for a school bus, or is it possible that I simply saw some sort of bus owned by a religious organisation painted in exactly the same color scheme as a public school bus?

1. It could have been owned by a church or a religious school
Bus companies do sell old busses.

2. When I went to a Jewish school as a kid, our school bus...
...looked similar to public-school buses.

3. There's a carpenter around here whose van has a sticker that reads
Of course Jesus Saves, He's Jewish.

I want to beat the crap out of him everytime I see him...which is too much.

4. Many school buses are owned by private companies, so it's probably up to them.
A public school bus, owned by the district, probably shouldn't have "Jesus Saves" on the back of it, but chances are a driver put it there not knowing that it's a bad idea.

Also, yellow school buses can be used for private schools, charters, shuttles, camps -- pretty much everything. So it could be perfectly fine.

6. That's what I was thinking, but I'm new to this area.
I figured it was some harmless random guy who thought they were doing good by putting it on the bus they normally drive. But I wasn't sure if you could 'use' that paint scheme in this state for anything you wanted.
