1. Lots I hope. There have been some good apples...
...but not enough to do anything real.

But above all, give me an Obama presidency if we are talking about real change.

4. The best change Obama will bring
will be additional numbers in congress that rode his coattails in the election. He has the best ability to deliver additional seats that we have. The legislative majority is where we have our best shot. Plus we'll have a president that will sign the legislation instead of shoving it back in our faces.

5. That's a big plus, but we shouldn't forget about Bush's "unitary executive".
Bush has rammed so much power into the office of the presidency that our current congress would face bullshit resistance for almost anything it tried to do, though sadly it hasn't tried to do much...

But there's also another aspect, not talked about much. I thing Obama's greatest power might not be through the current political system at all, but rather through his power as a symbol. He shows us in some regards that anything is possible, that there is always hope. I think it could turn out that this does what previous presidents couldn't do: Changing WE THE PEOPLE. A deep, positive grassroots change in attitude could be more powerful than any legislative change as far as transforming this nation.

10. It makes me sad that people want to take that away
The fact that he is able to fill arenas with 20,000 people is a testament to his ability to change the way citizens look at politics. He is making more people interested in their civic lives. It's unfortunate that some people want hope to be a four letter word (in the figurative sense).

6. I'm disappointed they didn't make the sweeping
changes I'd hoped, but I sure as hell won't be voting for any Republican.

Maybe the NEXT Dems we put in place -- especially with a Dem in the WH, will be a little more ballsy.

11. Just scanning the list - what vetting did these people get
I personally can't believe a site that calls itself "peacecandiates" that includes Jim McGovern of MA as an incumbent they want to replace. The problem with some of these extreme left wing groups is that they are willing to replace some of the best people we have with people who at this point have no record on anything. http://www.peacecandidates.com/stooges

12. It is a collaborative effort
At this point almost anyone is better than the current Congress. Our current Congress has been brainwashed or blackmailed by the Bush Mob so they are a lost cause.

13. Do you think that McGovern is an incumbent stoodge?
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 12:51 PM by karynnj
Do you seriously think that removing someone who is likely in the top 5% of Congressmen in terms of Iraq and every other issue I can thing of and replacing him with someone with no senority and likely only a fraction of his expertise makes sense?

Who are the people doing this collaborative effort? What are their successes - in anything.

I don't know much about most of the Congressman - I did get a chance to hear McGovern speak - and in fact, one of his comments that got a lot of supportive laughter was when he said that people were saying that Patrick, then running was too liberal for state wide office in MA - he then paused, denied that and made - the unrefuted by the crowd comment that, he was. (I have a kid in college in his district) There is no way that he is brainwashed.

Actions like this are why anyone should think twice before giving money to this organization. You can find a person there who looks good and research them - and give the money to that person if that makes sense.

14. I don't know who put him on the list
Maybe someone was just screwing around. It is a collaborative effort of Kucinich supporters/volunteers and no one is asking for money. There is no donation button so I don't know why you said that. We are just trying to work together to make improvements in the US Congress.

If you don't think the Congress needs improving...
"What are their successes - in anything. "
What are the Congress' successes?
