If CNN won't fire Glenn Beck for this, what will it take?

Dina Sansing from US Weekly was stunned into silence when Glenn Beck hinted that he'd like to take some "nude photos" of her during the discussion about tawdry pictures of American Idol's Antonella Barba.

4. There are laws against sexual harrassment, though.
I don't watch his show so I can't comment on whether his regular bile-spewing might get him into legal hot water.

9. Is he her boss? I don't think there are "laws" against making crude or even inappropriate comments.
The guy's an ass, but I would think when he fantasized on air about killing Michael Moore he was in more of a legal grey area than he is here.

11. Maybe American laws are different from Canadian laws.
No need for the sarcasm.

15. If that came across as excessively sarcastic
it wasn't my intent. :hi:

Speaking of Canada, maybe you saw the Kids in the Hall Sketch where Dave Foley is the guy who can't help sounding really sarcastic when he talks. "Oh, yeah. I'm reeeeeally glad to meet you." Classic.

19. No worries. Maybe I'm just extra-touchy today.
I'd completely forgotten about his out-loud musings about Michael Moore, so my OP title could have been better informed. Thank you for the reminder.

(Got to see KITH in Vancouver for their reunion tour a few years back. Great stuff, but alas, no appearance by my favourite character, the pretentious Darryl.)

21. I'm all about the Chicken Lady.
Although, really, you can't count the moments of brilliance that were on that show any more than you can count the angels dancin' on a pin.

13. He doesn't have to be her boss - sexual harrassment can occur between co-employees
You raise an interesting question, however. Protection against sexual harrassment might even extend to paid contractors as long as it involves a situation wherein the person being sexually harrassed might be intimidated into not raising objections or believing that objecting to the behavior may have negative consequences regarding their employment. I didn't see the interview. Was the lady being interviewed by Glenn Beck being paid by CNN as a consultant on a particular issue or topic? There might be cases wherein the "workplace" extends into cyberspace or the video monitor such as one involving a TV host interfacing with someone at another TV studio by monitor. I'm not sure any of the elements for sexual harrassment would be present here, but there are some interesting issues.

16. Either way, I don't think it would be a criminal matter.
Maybe a lawsuit against CNN. I certainly wouldn't shed many tears if they fired that guy, for whatever reason.

20. I agree
Sexual harrassment could include criminal acts as part of the behavior, such as stalking and criminal assault and battery. But in this case, it sounds simply like crude and ungentlemanly behavior by someone who doesn't know the meaning of good manners and civility.

17. I had the same question. I guess she's on "American Idol", which I've never watched in my life.

But after doing a little googling on the situation, I can only say one thing and one thing only-

if the religious right honestly still thinks that they're somehow going to get people in this country to stop fucking for pleasure, they're high. Really, really high.

3. Were the words dildo, loofah, or felafel mentioned at any time?
Maybe Beck is trying to horn in on Bill O'Reilly's viewer demographic.

6. CNN gave that asshole the rubber stamp for "Get out of jail free" cards.
Maybe CNN Headline News ought to sign Phil Donahue for a bordering time slot.

7. Nah, Phil would be far more obscene. He'd talk about the war
in not so rosey terms. Can't have that now. :sarcasm:

It's really amazing to me how much the right gets away with, and how much the left is beat to shit for things not anywhere near as obscene.

:grr:

8. It seems promoting violence, hate & racism are hunky dory, but sex still pisses people off.
So it's entirely conceivable that a lame, awkward, cheesy line line that might get the guy fired when openly fantasizing about murdering liberals like Michael Moore has not.

10. Thom Hartmann had a guest on this morning who was talking
about that. Not Glenn Beck specifically, but how violence, hatred, etc., is perfectly acceptable in this society, but that we (the societal "we") get totally freaked out by sex.

18. Amazing, isn't it? Glenn Beck returns to the air of "LIBERAL" CNN ...
... in spite of his growing credibility gap.

Wondering how Ted Turner's been sleeping lately.

Hard for me to even remember what it used to be like.
