8. Maybe it was "take your kids to work day"?
"The world stock markets have lost $250 billion in the past 3 days. Whatever. I bet they haven't shaved their heads. That's when you know they've really lost it."

9. Depressions are unlikely
given structural constraints. But is a recession close? Very likely.

11. I have always contended that you would usually be better off putting your money into a slot machine
than into the stock market. This is why. This might not be a depression but there are a lot of depressed people right now, I guarantee you.

13. errrr...you may want to rethink that statement

14. When one invests in the market, one parters themselves with the likes of Ken lay
Dennis Koslowski, and Bernard Ebbers and a host of other treacherous criminals. I have no intention of handing my hard earned money over to these traitors and thieves, no intention what-so-ever. If you wish to marry yourself to them, be my guest. Furthermore, to be truthful, I have little intention of ever putting so much as a dime into a slot machine either. It was a joke designed to illustrate a point.

15. Major insider trading bust today involving investment firms Morgan Stanley & UBS
and two major Wall Street lawyers. That might shake investor confidence in the fairness and integrity of the market. That is, if CNN reports the news, but they probably will give this insider trading bust about 15 seconds of news coverage.

16. I know a bit about this - 15 seconds of news coverage is about right
First the lawyers were not "Major." They worked in the compliance department - which means they get no respect. Traders get respect. Secondly, the profits generated by the scheme were on the order of $15M between all involved - that is really peanuts WallStreetWise. The UBS guy is fucked - he will go to jail. This is nowhere near Ken Lay/Bernie Ebbers - that was several orders of magnitude bigger.
