The public's response to ABC's pathetic debate moderation is encouraging

I hope that we see more of the kind, especially in response to the mainstream media's corporate-friendly "coverage" of economic issues such as "free" trade and the declining working and middle classes (only CNN is doing the job discussing those.)

It would be great to see an angry mob of 1000's of people protesting outside of ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, demanding they stop covering Brittany and Paris and start covering real issues in an honest manner.

2. Could it be possible that at last a network has actually undershot their estimate
of the "lowest common denominator" when it comes to the intelligence and attitudes of USians??

I guess it had to happen eventually!

For decades now it seems that the surging popularity of "tabloid news," salacious celebrity gossip rags, and madcap, pulp, or fluff stories proved beyond a doubt that those deciding what to offer the public by way of "news" or items of interest simply could NOT stoop too low in their content. The dumbing down of our culture has gone on steadily for a very long time now, and it has seemed that the population has participated with something between glee and relief. (Glee that they get to see more T&A or blatant cruelty and blood, and relief that they are not required to think much anymore.)

"Don't bother our minds with complexities," however, may have finally resulted in the public's hitting rock bottom -- and getting the inevitable bounce upward! You know, like how an addict has to "hit bottom" and finally seek help before he is ready accept help to clean up.

I sure hope so, but I'm still very wary.

Maybe when people find that their demand for always more trivial fodder and the celebration of "style" over substance in all things has resulted in their having nothing BUT crap on which to feed, they begin to crave something more worthy? Could it possibly be?

Surely the level of discourse and the amount of real substance has been so low now for so long, it's easy to imagine that a backlash could be coming.

The jury may be out on this one for quite awhile, but I guess it can't hurt to watch for signs of some healthy cravings out there....

3. Dare I suggest
Dare I suggest that the public discourse is improving because it's being spoken to more intelligently by a certain politician?

Treat people with respect and they tend to behave more like they deserve it. True story!

4. Even Fauxnews ripped ABC over last night's debate.
It's over in LBN.

It even made the "Greatest Page."
