5. I offered to fill a friend's tank last weekend.
First time I had been near a gas pump in probably a year.

I almost passed out.

7. Good Grief!
Hell, I have a Ford Taurus and it cost me $50.00 to fill up yesterday. And I believe that no matter what, we will never see a reduction in gas prices.
But, one thing I have done, and would reccomend others to do, if at all possible, is to not drive anywhere for one day a week. I realize this is not possible for some, but if it is, try it. Walk to where you need to go, take a bus, or stock up in advance. It has been helping my finances a little bit. And every little bit helps.

14. The trick is to only use it when you need it, cause when you need it nothing else will do.
No kidding, when you are towing an 8,000 pound load or hauling 2 tons of manure its the only thing that will do. Not exactly the thing to drive to the prom though and we sure don't ride around it it just to enjoy the spring views. Thing is it gets just about twice as good as gas milage as an equivelent gas powered truck. A lot of people don't know that about diesels, not only are they ungodly powerful they are also relatively fuel efficient. Mine gets between 18 and 22 mpg regularly.

17. I suppose if you need it, that's it.
But I'd be damned sure it didn't move unless nothing else would do the job.

How the F do these people I see around use 'em just for the macho kick? I was in a convenience store yesterday and some 17ish-looking kid sauntered in and left a jacked up, tricked out F-350 diesel behemoth idling out in front all the while.....the ground shook....crazy.

33. Would it be cheaper to rent a truck?
How many days a year do you need it? Three weeks maybe (just guessing)? It might come out to a thousand dollars a year to rent, but you'd save on insurance and maintenance and of course, the original purchase price.

If you want more than that, you have to use a different credit card.

15. Just got back from Chihuahua - worked out to $2.58/gal! And that is with pump service!
first trip in a long time where the gas in Mexico was cheaper - used to go there for the cheaper gas back in the day - for the last 15 years it wasn't - now? I think we might be going to Agua Prieta for lunch more often. It might even pay for the gas to get there!

I have a Nissan Altima and I paid an even $60.00 to fill up yesterday. It seems gas is going a few cents a gallon a day and nobody is doing jack shit about it.

for work which is bad enough. I understand when Obama refers to the guy who can't afford to drive around and look for work. Every time I see a Hummer I wonder how much they are pissing away to go buy groceries, and pick up the kids.

26. I am going to have to get a second job to pay for heat this winter.
Fortunately the last of mine will be entering High school and they will just have to fend for themselves when I am not around. Sucky choice, but not any other viable option except maybe putting myself up on ebay as a mail-order bride.

Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 08:48 PM by defendandprotect
aggravating as hell, isn't it?

I mean we're so wrong to have our natural resources in private hands ---
obviously they want to keep control, keep wealth and it becomes suicidal ---
in fact, IMO, the oil people were part of the parcel of those involved in the JFK coup.

But the movie was fantastic --- and it helps clear your mind 'cause we've heard about electric cars before and we know that burning fossil fuels is OVER --- it helps to know the truth ---

but it's hard to see this disaster continuing on and the damage it does to the planet and all of us!

Fantastic people made that documentary, too --- !!!

22. LOL. Last night at TM's post prom we gave out $25 gift cards to
WAWA. I was joking that it was going to pay for a gallon or two.

Interestingly, they liked those better than the Target or Best Buy gift cards we had purchased.

Costs me about $60 to fill up my van every three weeks, but I admit I don't drive a lot and combine errands the best I can. I'm kind of trapped in the house due to my job, so I have to do guerilla type hits at stores.
