Our friend Cokie on NPR this morning "He surely has studied this"
"So He probably knows what he is talking about"

Now who do you think she said that about....

Yep George W. Bush

This was in a discussion, excuse me her "analysis", about the "Catholic vote". Seems that Cokie had a talk about this on the way to the airport to greet the Pope last week (yes she was in the limo) and Bush said that the Catholic vote exists IF there is "a perceived prejudice" ( take that to mean wedge issue/unidentified anti-Catholic element--but not the fundies mind you) and since Bush won the Catholic vote.... see Cokie's quotes above.

2. She is a vile person, a propoganda spewing mouthpiece
I would immagine that her career is pretty close to being over too. A change is sweeping this nation and she will not be a part of it.

11. as so many of the other mouth breathing traitors are to find out also
In the end our America will be shown to be the stronger of the two combatants, us and the neoCON's. This is a battle to the death for our Constitution, if we allow it to happen that is.

7. Seems also that their is a "parlor game" in Washington about the Pa primary
Yes she called it a "parlor game" --how many does Hillary have to win by

She said only double digits.

I said the same on Friday - because I knew her kind was going to out there moving the goalposts for Hillary

Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 09:02 AM by patrice
yep, pretty much the epitome of Repuglican values. All of the rules apply to everyone else and people like CR don't actually have to have any bonifides by "virtue" of the fact that they are "right" = "the free market".

13. So True...
Our biggest enemy this year will be the corporate media and their enablers...those who see politics as a game...some bloodsport they can play around with like some Roman Circus. To hell with issues of substance, to hell with truth or objectivity, the Cokester (a name I've been calling her for over 30 years) is one of the punditocracy that only care about what they hear on the cocktail weenie circuit and plays inside the beltway fishbowl; totally oblivious to how out of touch what she say is.

That's a shame since few here may know that the Cokester was one of the finest reporters during the Watergate days when she first appeared on NPR (along with Susan Stamburg) and for many years was critical of the very scene she now so dearly embraces and apes. It all changed when that first Disney paycheck showed up.

Here's hoping the DC echo chamber continues to piss off the "riff raff"...they've proven time and again they have little concern to report the truth or serve as a balance against the powerful. Yep...to her its all a game...one she can pass along gossip as "fact" and opinion as some kind of divine word...no matter how wrong, no matter how disconnected she and the rest of the chattering class are.

Poor poor Coquette...

15. They stopped talking about the WHY of the '06 election by that Friday
which is odd since punditry is all about the WHY part of the story :eyes:

Corruption-it created, with almost no press coverage, the most dramatic political achievement since Carter was elected...but they don't want to talk about the distant light of what appears to be pitchforks (as they squint out the window into the night) oh well whatever (takes another sip) anyway I was saying.....

17. Remember...She's Also ABC...
We've had two major stories in the past two Friday dumps...one, being the revelation this regime authorized war crimes right in the Oval Office (like it's been turned into the Wolf's Lair) and then how the Pentagon infiltrated the corporate media (including ABC, obviously) to play cheerleaders for this war for profit (all of theirs as well). And have we heard anything about this story this past weekend? Nah...it's more important harping about Obama knowing some dude who was in the Weather Underground 40 years ago (when Obama was 8 years old...sheesh). It's more important to waste electrons on lapel pins and bowling scores.

Also, I'm sure ABC is in damage control. Their silence on the total panning the debate got shows how they plan to play the talking points truth and integrity be damned. The beltway fishbowl is so polluted...given the choice between doing some serious journalism into the corruption of this regime or taking a ride in a limo with the Chimpster, we saw which ride the Cokester took...and with it, the rest of the corporate media.

My hopes are many are not only seeing this disconnect but ready to fight against it...delivering a big, fat, scary Democratic message to these stenographers in November. But alas, they'll still continue to spin as their paychecks depend on it.

Cheers...

:hi:

14. I'm Catholic and I'd rather have a nail gun fired into my
skull than vote for Bush or McCain or any repuke -ever. Cokie Roberts doesn't know what the hell she's talking about and neither (of course) does the chimp. Both totally blowing smoke out their asses - but then, that's about all either one of them is good at or for.

16. Eight years ago, she was telling us about Bush's "Charm Offensive"
She explained that Bush would use his "charm" to get things done in DC. He's "charming, oh so charmin" was her mantra.

To Hell with Cokie and NPR--I stopped listen to both of them after that "report."
