In midst of recession, Halliburton rakes in billions.»

Economists are forecasting a recession, U.S. company profits in almost all sectors are taking a hit, and many American families cannot say they are better off than they were eight years ago. But one giant oil services company is weathering the economic storm quite well. Reuters reports Halliburton “said on Monday that first-quarter profit rose 6 percent as customers in markets including the Middle East and Asia spent more on oil and gas exploration and production”:

In North America, Halliburton’s revenue rose 11 percent to $1.86 billion while operating income was nearly flat at $491 million.

Halliburton said revenue outside North America soared 24 percent to $2.16 billion, while operating income rose 21 percent to $422 million.

1. Am I surprised by this? NO... That has been the Bush ambition from the ...
beginning! Make corporations that the Bush friends and family will profit in no mater what... In other words, destroy America at any cost and make Billions while doing it.

That handed this idiot everything he needed to distract the 'Murikans from all the money he planned to steal from SS, social programs, education, and in general, the US Treasury!

I agree, he needs to receive 30 years to LIFE!

9. Halliburton spun off KBR a long time ago
they are a oil drilling company. This is the hot sector, obviously, because of the price of oil.

10. Not bad at all
Considering that Halliburton was on the ropes financially just 5½ short years ago. Nearly bankrupt. And still owing all that deferred compensation to their former CEO. But something magical happened, and Dick Cheney got paid more than you and me combined last year by Halliburton, even though the three of us (officially) did exactly the same amount of work for them.

11. Your thread title says it all beautifully !
As a matter of fact, it just about sums up our choices, doesn't it?

Just put that sentence, an equal sign to a picture of Dick Cheney and a box you check ( between Democrats and Greedy Old Perverts). How hard is it to run an ad like that?

We've got a million opportunities like this, I hope they get used.
