Pew Research Poll: Only 28% of Americans have a general idea of how many soldiers have died in Iraq
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 03:13 AM by Truth Hurts A Lot
How can we be so far removed from the reality of the war in Iraq that we are unaware - to the tune of only 28% being able to cite “4000″ - of the number of American sons and daughters that have been killed in a war built on lies?

...

That same survey tells us that press attention to the war has dropped to an all-time low of just 3% in February. The overall coverage, from January 1st through March 20th, is 4%.

...

Coinciding with the drop in war coverage is an increase in the number of Americans who think that military progress is being made in Iraq. What does this mean?

It means McCain is walking on a free pass with the media’s lack of focus on the war. It means that journalists get away with asking questions about Drudge Report allegations and flag pins. It means that the beverage of choice (Crown Royal or green tea anyone?) is more important than the national debt.

1. None of us should be surprised by this.
The MSM has been too busy covering issues that are far more important. Jenna's wedding. The Pope's visit. Britney's crotch. etc.

Great country we got here, huh?

This vet says fuck you, MSM and BushCo.

3. I never guessed it could be so low.
And I worry sometimes I'm too cynical. That is a very, very discouraging statistic.

Now I understand a little better how in the hell Bush got re-elected. There's something seriously wrong with this fucking country.

Maybe we should go back to a Monarchy. At least we get a 50/50 chance for a decent government. I think we might very well be too goddamn dumb to have a democracy.

10. It does explain a LOT... As long as so many of us choose to stay ignorant
we will continue to have Bush-types in office, illegal wars, no consequences, etc. It's kind of depressing.

4. That is so sad.
But not surprising, since the Bush Cabal has deemed actual reporting to be a crime against America.

5. "Maybe we should go back to a Monarchy."
America is a Monarchy. Democracy is merely a word.

6. With a Democrat in office, the war deaths will suddenly become very interesting to the media.

If it hurts the Democrats, they will report it.
