“Hello California, I’m listening?”

The formal launch of California Republicans Aligned for Tomorrow (CRAFT), the group formed to groom electable GOP candidates to statewide offices is barely a week old, and already interesting names are surfacing.

Among them: actor Kelsey Grammer he of “Cheers” and “Fraiser” fame. The 53-year-old Grammer has been one of the Republican Party’s relatively few “reliable” Hollywood personalities. For instance, last year he gave $4,600 to the presidential campaign of Rudy Giuliani.

No one is saying for the record that Grammer is interested in actually running – although at least one prominent Sacto consultant says his firm would be glad to talk to the actor about it. Calls to Grammer’s Malibu home and Los Angeles production company, Grammnet Productions, were not returned. And the CRAFT folks are sticking by their policy of not commenting on just whom they are trying to turn from political pumpkins into constitutional officers.

1. Action stars (Schwartzengger, Reagan, Ventura) maybe . . .
Comedians and dancers (Grammer, Murphy)? Not so much.

2. Repub celebs seem to be the only ones who ever get elected
Reagan, Ahhnuld, Sonny Bono, Gopher from the Love Boat, Clint Eastwood. All Republicans.

Here's hoping that Al Franken breaks the mold! :toast:
