9. I would have loved it if they'd jammed up the street -
stopped their trucks and gotten out -- right in front of the White House.

I HOPE Congress took note!

These truckers have been hit HARD!

4. deREGULATED SPECULATION responsible for at least 45% of oil cost, and they deregulated speculation
food production recently too that is why the cost of food is going up

they whine about 3% increase in wages being inflationary.. then let crony's loot food and energy driving increasing prices 100%

these fascist Cleptocratic Corporatist are like a bunch of Fuck'n Monkeys at a salad bar

i think they wink and nod, a deregulation to speculators in trade for a cut of the profits back in campaign contributions cause they are falling behind the Democrats in financing the election

6. I think trains are going to be doing more and more. It will be interesting to see if infrastructure
gets major upkeep (tracks, etc).

8. Sadly for the truckers their days are numbered.
Rail is going to come back. It has to. What this country needs is an interstate highway system for high speed rail for hauling both freight and passengers. Once we have one, most of the long haul trucking will be obsolete.

whatever the US does affects so many other people in the world, not a good way to win people over is it? :sarcasm:

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/D24577DB-36F9-4415-86C5-32CBA364950B.htm

just a snip:

Chakib Khelil, the president of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec), blamed the fall in the US dollar for high prices and did not rule out prices rising to $200 a barrel.

He said: "Without geopolitical problems and the fall in the dollar, the prices of oil would not be at this level."
