2. Yeah, kick indeed...
Can you imagine that in 21st century America we're discussing the practice of torture?

Can you believe that discussion generally focuses on what kinds of torture are appropriate and which aren't, with rarely even a mention of the disgusting lack of decency and utter insanity of torture?

And can you believe that the pitch is helping Iraqis who were victims of non-US torture, and in fact fled to the US to escape their persecutors?

This country/empire's history includes a very long list of crimes against humanity, everything from assassinations to fomenting right wing coups to gunboat diplomacy.

But even in such exalted company, torture stands out as a practice so despicable that only the Bushies could have allowed it.

But all's forgiven because now we're really, really concerned about the the poor Iraqi victims -- despite the fact that the US has been torturing some of those very Iraqis we pretend to care so much about.

Hypocrites R us, yet again.
