Clear and Precise Signs of USA Fascism
So I was on the road for a few days for business and although I did not see any truckers striking, they were driving 60-65 mph on the interstate. Obviously conserving fuel since diesel is over $4.00/gallon here in the Southeast. Other than those trucks there were almost no private cars on the road. The highways were clear and the gas stations empty. Yet when I tuned into the radio I heard NPR and ABC News telling me that the economy was not as bad as had been forecast. In fact, things were looking up because the Fed stepped in.

The Fed. Okay, they cut the rates again, punishing all those folks who save money to squeeze some numbers up in the charts of the Faux-Economy. But wait! The Fed is going to crack-down on credit card lenders, too!

I thought the "Fed" meant the federal government of the United States of America. Congress? Nope. It's the Federal Reserve who has released it's proposal to curb and control. Folks, this body is not Our Government. Yet they are reported on the front pages of newspapers and headlines of the radio news as if they ARE an elected government body.

This is not a Democracy.

1. People don't understand it's a private entity.
It should be renamed Greenspan, Inc.

2. Newspaper report:
Headline: Fed proposes crackdown on credit-card lenders

Story: The Federal Reserve released a proposal Friday to prevent "unfair or deceptive" credit-card lending, moving to limit fees and interest-rate increases blamed for driving consumers deeper into debt.

Then there is a list of bullet points listing things that should be done such as prohibiting placing unfair time constraints on payments. A payment could not be deemed late unless the borrower is given a reasonable period of time such as 21 days to pay.

The Federal Reserve is not an elected body to have such powers.

It sounds good but WHERE THE FUCK IS CONGRESS ON THIS ISSUE?

3. Jeez - I missed the point you were making.
I see "fascist" and I go off -- I see signs of it every day and they're becoming commonplace (frogs in boiling water).

I'll write my representative NOW! Thanks!

4. Is it Fascist Yet?

Your frog in boiling water is a good analogy.

Everyone likes to dance around the word and the issue. Well, it can't happen here they say! Things are bad, but we'll all get by. Somehow we will manage to resurrect our way of life. We really are in control. The net allows us freedom. Vote Hope.

blah blah blah.

6. I think it is --
And it was Naomi Wolf who painted a picture of those in Germany who didn't know what was going on when things were eroding, because hey -- they were still going to work, school, the theater, shopping, all the "normal" things we equate with a free society. Then little by little...

I see it with our media. Not allowing the caskets of our troops to be shown returning home. Stories about us -- US! -- that aren't reported here, but are reported on the BBC and other foreign newswires. A president who has a LAW essentially saying he has the last word, regardless of what the Senate or Congress instruct. Protesters having to meet in a designated area rather than being able to march down any street in OUR country. And on and on.

Yeah, I DO think it's fascist now.

And I'm also alarmed that in Italy, a new Fascist leader has been elected. I don't know that much about what's going on there, but just the same -- could anyone WANT a Fascist regime as their form of government?

It's been here for a few years. We're just so blind to it.

5. It's probably how they have privatized law enforcement. The DoJ is
bush's lawyers, and hit man against opponents. They can't be bothered with punishing the banks. It also gives political cover for the Reps.

7. So true
But words to the masses that are OBVIOUSLY MISLEADING are something I felt like documenting here.

Amazing as it is, but many Americans rely upon their morning newspaper or radio for information. Yeah, we might be getting to the tipping point where most people KNOW their newspaper lies to them so they read between the lines. Sounds familiar. Russia.

10. That's why I read papers from all over the world. McClatchy papers
here at home seem less odious than others.

13. Congress (including many Democrats) sold everyone down the river long ago on issues like this

Part and parcel to the way Americans have accepted the way their elections- and their mass media are run.

It'll be interesting to see how the backlash goes.

9. nah....
....be nice....

....just because the Fed's take money out of our pockets and pack it in the pockets of their rich corporate buddies, while these same rich buddies plunger our collective ass with high interest rates and corporate war, doesn't mean they don't love us....

....this is America, you must provide your own lubricant....just buy a large jar of vaseline and you'll feel much better....
