Thats right. I can't give a dime to any politicians. My rebate check will pay for college tuition at a college for my 20 year old son.

I must say I am envious of those who post about giving away their rebate money to the candidates with a slight threatening like tone. Oh be afraid, I can give my tax rebate to my candidate, neener neener neener!

I'll bet my kids tuition payments are bigger than your rebate checks? So there.

2. Look at it this way; when you're old and gray, your son can
support you (maybe) because he got a good education. Next time I donate, not having kids in college, I'll think of you and up my ante a little.

4. My federal check goes toward a portion of my state taxes.
Wanna play "who's hurting worse"?

Naw, didn't think so. It's a stupid game only funny in the movies, a la the "scar scene" in "Jaws".

probably just a little more excited about his college than he was. He loves it though.

6. Thats a much better investment
Its much better to fund your kid's education than spend the money on consumerist bullshit. College is important.

13. Make your son take out a loan ...
You would be better off in the long run if you invested the $$$ in a Roth IRA and had your son take out a loan for college expenses.

His degree will enable him to pay for his education. You should think about your retirement first. Who knows what will be around at that time.

20. The best gift you can give your child is a good education! It cost me
120,000 thousand dollars to give my son a bachelors degree at a small Indiana private college, and he graduated 7 years ago.

23. thanks, Its going to cost us about as much, private U in Cali. He did get
a grant of 14 grand a year and has kept his grades up so he'll keep the grant. But its still costing us big bucks to make sure he gets the best we can give. I think I would have been okay with a cheaper school, we have the UC's here) but he has a medical condition and I wanted to be sure he would be okay in a small private setting with lots of job offers at graduation. And this meets with his academic style too. No 600 student classes.

29. Glad to hear he got a grant. We didn't get one, but we only had one child.
I don't know how working people today can afford to pay for their children to go to college. It's sad, and it's no secret they want to keep the working class in their place.

24. be grateful you can pay for college for your son, so many can't even come close
and THAT is what is going to bankrupt our country in the long run. I would prefer the way they do it overseas, especially in France where all kids get to go to college or a trade school, paid for. It only depends on how hard they work and whether they want to go. Someday our great grandchildren will be trying to emigrate to Europe like the Latinos wish to come here for work.

26. I am with you, but mine (if it comes) will go to pay medical bills.
I wish I could donate it but cannot. I am glad for those who can, but my bills take precedence. So, I'll get some more forms, sign up some more youth to vote instead.

Sounds like you are in the same boat, except different.
