Prediction: Whoever wins the Presidency
dems will have 246+ seats in the house next January, compared to 189 or less for the rethugs. In the Senate dems will have 54+ seats. And yes, I think it will make a difference- though it remains to be seen how much.

2. Pretty modest prediction really.
Dems already have 256 in the House, and it's really difficult to see Warner, Tom Udall or Shaheen losing. In addition, I'm betting strongly on Mark Udall and Mark Begich to win in CO and AK, respectively. Repubs are fighting with a lot less resources on many more fronts. Scads of repuke congress critters declined to run again this year, and repukes are defending almost double the number of Senate seats than dems.

3. If Dems self-destruct and McCain wins
expect further attempts to expand executive power.

I hope Waxman is taking his vitamins - he will need to be in good health for all the work he will have to do, regardless who wins.

4. My prediction is that whoever wins the Presidency
will be a 1 term President. There are way too many problems to solve, and it just can't be done in 4 years.

6. The Only Thing That Doesn't Change Is The Corporate Media...
I can't see how things can be anything but better with a majority of Democrats in the House, Senate and the Executive...and one that a Democratic President sure wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of.

Many here were expecting miracles when the Democrats took congrol of the House last year, but I long felt the best they could do was just keep this regime from doing further damage. Whomever comes in next year will have a massive mess to clean up, a wholesale top to bottom change in virtually every politicized department and then deal with all the landmines the booosh cabal leaves behind.

The biggest adversary will be the corporate media...who will suddenly rediscover their role as "watchdog"...and the honeymoon will be brief. But the votes of American will speak stronger and louder. With the boosh regime gone, the power in the beltway will shift...and with it so will all the good things a party can do...along with the excesses. Here's hoping we elect a lot of Progressives and Liberal Democrats who will take hold of the agenda in the House then the Senate...that's where things will change.

Cheers...

7. The Party might do even better than that, the question is, what will it matter?
As we've seen since 2006, the Democrats have no agenda beyond paying off their corporate masters and re-election. Like constitutionally required impeachment, universal health care, a meaningful minimum wage, the utterly demented "defense" budget, rampant homelessness, falling standard of living, increasing child mortality, appalling lack of education, creeping fascism, crumbling infrastructure, etc., etc., are all "off the table".

Neither of the Presidential candidates has any plan to deal with any of these issues. Oh yes, of course they both have platitudes and half measures to propose, guaranteed to fail, but then they can say "see, we tried", and the sheeple will go back to chewing their cuds.

So the wheel will turn and nothing will change, and we'll try another Republik in 2012, as our nation goes down the drain.

8. I think you're right about all of this, but I have a prediction as well
despite this Dem Majority in both the Senate and the House, and the very real possibility of a Democratic president, in 3 years, there will still be a significant US military presence in Iraq.
