(CNN) — The FBI’s counter-terrorism unit is trying to determine who detonated a small explosive device early Sunday at a San Diego courthouse, which damaged the building’s front lobby but caused no injuries.
The San Diego Fire Department’s Metro Arson Strike Team responded to a call at 1:40 a.m. (4:40 a.m. Saturday ET) regarding the blast at the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Courthouse, according to an FBI press release.
The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) took over the investigation after it was determined that the blast was the result of an explosive device.
